Cuba Township is located in the southwest corner of Lake County, IL, township 43 north, range 9 east of the third principal meridian. The office is located at 28000 W. Cuba Road, Barrington, IL 60010, (847) 381-1924, info@cubatwpil.gov

The Township exists according to law as established by the State of Illinois in 1847. The Township performs the 3 mandated functions as prescribed by the State of Illinois: road maintenance, property assessment and assistance to the needy. Additionally, the Township provides other services as permissible by state law.

Petitions for April 1, 2025, Township Election Available

CUBA TOWNSHIP, IL. – Beginning Tuesday, August 20, 2024, petitions for candidacy for the 2025 Cuba Township election will be available at the Cuba Township Office, 28000 W Cuba Road, Barrington, IL.   The first day to circulate nomination petitions is August 20, 2024.  Supervisor, Assessor, Clerk, Highway Commissioner, and four Trustee positions are up for election, each for a four-year term.

The filing period is Tuesday, November 12, 2024, through Monday, November 18, 2024, excluding weekend days. The Township Clerk will accept petitions only at the Cuba Township Office, 28000 W Cuba Road, Barrington, Illinois, during the regular office hours of Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., provided that on the last day for filing, the Township Clerk will accept petitions at the Cuba Township Office between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Objections to Cuba Township candidate petitions may be filed with the Cuba Township Clerk by appointment only during regular business hours of Monday – Friday 9 AM to 4 PM. Appointment requests should be made via email to the Township Clerk at clerk@cubatwpil.gov. The last day for filing objections to nomination papers is Monday, November 25, 2024.

The Cuba Township office comprises the General Town employees under the direction of Supervisor, Christopher Karam, and the Assessor’s employees under the direction of Assessor, Nicole E. Knapik.

The Cuba Township Road District is a separate entity under the sole supervision of Thomas J. (T.J.) Podgorski, its Highway Commissioner.

The Road District employs 10 Full-time employees working forty-hour work weeks. The Road District also employs varying numbers of seasonal part-time employees.

Pursuant to the Illinois Open Meetings Act (Illinois Public Act 97-0609), the total compensation package of any employee who receives over $75,000 per year is available for inspection at the Supervisor’s Office at Cuba Township, 28000 W Cuba Road in Barrington, Illinois between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

In 2019, the Illinois General Assembly passed Public Act 101-0504. The law requires IMRF to post certain employer cost and participation information on its website. IMRF will update these reports annually.
