Home Improvement Exemption (HIE)
This exemption defers the increase in the assessment of your property due to an addition or other improvement to applicant’s home for which the township assessor would add value. The deferral is for a period of four years following the completion of the project. Home improvement exemptions are initiated by the Township Assessor’s Office and the maximum deduction is $25,000 of equalized assessed value or $75,000 of market value.
- Improvements must be made on the applicant’s principal residence.
