Lake County Board Passes Property Tax Deferral Ordinance

The Lake County Board passed a Property Tax Deferral Ordinance at its May 12 meeting. The ordinance allows taxpayers to spread their property tax payments over four installments, instead of two, without incurring any interest penalties for late payments. The new schedule is listed as follows:

• 50% of the first installment payment is due by June 8, 2020
• 50% of the first installment payment is due by August 7, 2020
• 50% of the second installment payment is due by September 8, 2020
• 50% of the second installment payment is due by November 9, 2020
